On 11 November, Royal Bank of Canada teamed up with The Old Vic theatre to host a special workshop for SportsAid athletes. This was a unique opportunity for Team RBC SportsAid to enhance their communication skills on The Old Vic stage, helping them prepare for a future in the spotlight.

Eighteen future stars played Thespian for the day and participated in confidence building activities, such as learning live performance skills and practicing theatre techniques. As the athletes rise up through the sporting ranks having strong personal presence and confidence will be invaluable skills. They were joined by alumnus and Olympic silver medalist Leon Taylor who attended the event to give his support, guidance and experience as a former Olympian. Whilst the athletes took to the stage, their parents and guardians took part in a focus group with the CEO of SportsAid. Their feedback will help shape the charity’s work and focus for the future.

RBC’s SportsAid sponsorship is part of the RBC Kids Pledge which is our five-year $100 million commitment to improve the well-being of one million young people around the world. RBC has raised and donated nearly £250,000 for SportsAid since partnering with the charity began in 2014 to support future Olympians and Paralympians with the potential to go on and achieve great things.
