This past weekend in Toronto and New York, RBC employees took to the street alongside friends, family, clients, and members of the general public to participate in RBC Race for the Kids events benefiting youth in our communities.

Toronto

Over 9,000 participants came together to raise CA$2.5 million in support of youth mental health – making it our most successful Race to date, with RBC Capital Markets employees contributing more than CA$366,000 toward the total amount of funds raised. This year is a milestone not only in terms of the dollars raised and number of runners, but in that it is Toronto’s 5th consecutive year coming together in support of the Family Navigation Project at Sunnybrook Hospital.

The Toronto Race has three unique categories: a competitive 15K race, a 7K run, and a 5K run/walk/stroll for the whole family. This year’s Post-Race Party in Mel Lastman Square featured the Nickelodeon KidsFest, the chance to meet RBC Olympians at the RBC Training Ground station, and incredible Race-themed giveaways from the RBCxMusic booth!

We were also excited to have John Tory, Mayor of Toronto, join us at the Start Line once again to help kick off the 5K run. See CP24’s news coverage of the event.

New York

Over 1,500 participants came together to raise US$2.0 million in support of New York City youth—making it another record-breaking year, with RBC Capital Markets employees contributing more than US$1.0 million alone!

With events for the whole family, including a Kids zone, a 4K Family fun run, a 30 mile cycling tour, the competitive cross-fit style RBC Challenge, and the inaugural Spin for the Kids spinning event, this was the perfect event to kick off the fall season!

We recognize that today more than ever, our continued investment in youth is critical in ensuring our communities have a strong future. While a few more global races are set to take place in the coming months in Calgary, Ottawa, Chicago, Houston, London, Luxembourg, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kong, it’s safe to say that 2017 will be our most successful year yet for the RBC Race for the Kids series.

Thank you to all of our employees, clients, and members of the community for their continued support.
