A record-breaking 2,000 RBC employees, clients, suppliers, friends and family took part in this year’s event, in part to celebrate RBC’s support of the hospital since 2010.

RBC Race for the Kids returned to London for the 9th year and over 6,100 participants came together to walk,  jog and run 5kms for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), raising more than £650,000.

A record-breaking 2,000 RBC employees, clients, suppliers, friends and family took part in this year’s event, in part to celebrate RBC’s support of the hospital since 2010. To date over £2.8 million has been raised thanks to staff fundraising, sponsorships and generous donations.  Those vital funds contributed to the Royal Bank of Canada Neurosciences Unit that opened earlier this year.

As of this year, all funds raised by RBC will go towards supporting essential parent accommodation facilities right next door to GOSH. The new ‘Royal Bank of Canada House’ will provide a home away from home for the parents and families of seriously ill children being treated at GOSH. So far an incredible £280,000 has been raised in support of the new ‘Royal Bank of Canada House’.

Dave Thomas, CEO, RBC Capital Markets said: “RBC Race for the Kids is a highlight for all of us at RBC, providing a fantastic opportunity for us to give back to the community as well as meet some truly incredible people, whose lives have been touched by Great Ormond Street Hospital. We are delighted to be in our ninth year of supporting them and the inspirational work they do to make such a tangible difference to the lives of seriously ill children and their families.”

As an organisation, we recognize that today more than ever, our continued investment in youth is critical in ensuring our communities have a strong future. There are now 17 RBC Race for the Kids events globally with Luxembourg, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and Houston taking place in the coming months - it’s safe to say that 2018 will be our most successful year yet for the RBC Race for the Kids series and the youth charities we support.

Thank you to all of our employees, clients, suppliers and members of the community for their continued support.
