Canada’s economic expansion is entering its ninth year and growth is becoming more balanced across the country. Since RBC Economics’ December Provincial Outlook, the view on economic growth has been upgraded in several provinces in the wake of stronger-than-expected data — most conspicuously in Quebec where growth continued to surprise to the upside in 2017. Yet as the economy reaches capacity constraints over the next two years, it is expected that growth will slow across the country toward its long-run potential rate.
