Bloomberg News published a feature story following an interview with Matthew Stopnik and Jim Wolfe, Co-Heads of U.S. Investment Banking, highlighting our ascent into the top 10 U.S. M&A league tables and the demonstrable strategic growth of our advisory business.
“We’re scratching the surface … we see an opportunity to continue to chip away and do higher quality, more meaningful transactions and build market share”
- Matthew Stopnik
RBC has advised on a number of landmark M&A transactions this year. Notably, we advised Raytheon Co. on a $90 billion merger with United Technologies Corp., and we acted as BB&T’s sole adviser on its $27.9 billion merger with SunTrust Banks. We also advised Broadcom on the $10.7 billion acquisition of Symantec’s enterprise security business, and we were the sole adviser and provided debt financing to Permira Holdings LLP for its $2.5 billion takeover of life-sciences company Cambrex.
“As we come into 2020 we’ve got the best pipeline that we’ve had in quite some time across all products, but particularly M&A. We feel good about the ability to keep the momentum we achieved in 2019 as it relates to our advisory business”
- Jim Wolfe
