At the RBC Capital Markets Technology, Internet, Media & Telecommunications (TIMT) virtual conference on November 17, 2020, Dave McKay and Thomas Kurian discussed the rise of digital, Google Cloud's strategy, an ecosystem of partner solutions, e-commerce, data protection, AI applications, the rise of remote and how 5G impacts security. Thomas Kurian also spoke about how Google Cloud enables business processes to be digitized using data in different ways across different industries.
Dave McKay

Dave McKay President and CEO, RBC Dave McKay is President & CEO of RBC, Canada’s biggest bank, and one of the largest in the world by market capitalization. Dave is credited with helping transform the bank’s retail division and introduce new technology that has enabled RBC to adapt and evolve to rapidly-changing consumer demands. In 2015 he led the acquisition of City National Corp., creating a platform for growth with institutional, corporate and high net worth clients in the U.S. Dave joined RBC in 1988 as a computer programmer before moving to the retail banking arm. He held progressively senior roles in Canada and Japan in retail and business banking, group risk management, and corporate banking, ultimately becoming Group Head, Personal & Commercial Banking in 2012. A champion for Canada’s innovation ecosystem, Dave leads RBC’s support for and partnerships with universities, start-ups and accelerators, particularly in transformational technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain. He also advocates for youth, supporting the development of RBC Future Launch, a 10-year, $500 million commitment to help young people build the skills and capabilities required to succeed in a changing world.
Thomas Kurian
Chief Executive Officer
Thomas Kurian Chief Executive Officer Thomas joined Google in November 2018 as the CEO of Google Cloud. Prior to Google, Thomas spent 22 years at Oracle, where most recently he was President of Product Development. Before that, Thomas worked at McKinsey as a business analyst and engagement manager. His nearly 30 years of experience have given him a deep knowledge of engineering, enterprise relationships, and leadership of large organizations. Thomas' degrees include, an MBA in Administration and Management from Stanford University as an Arjay Miller Scholar and a BSEE in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Thomas serves as a member of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council and Princeton University School of Engineering Advisory Council.
