The mission
GRID Alternatives' (GRID) mission is to build community-powered solutions to advance economic and environmental justice through renewable energy.
GRID believes that a rapid, equitable transition to a world powered by renewable energy needs to benefit everyone. They are working across the United States and internationally to build community-powered solutions to advance economic and environmental justice through renewable energy.
Renewable energy can drive economic growth and environmental benefits in communities most impacted by underemployment, pollution and climate change. GRID is a national leader in helping communities nationwide get clean, affordable renewable energy, transportation, and jobs.
GRID envisions a rapid, equitable transition to a world powered by renewable energy that benefits everyone.
The program
The RBC Foundation USA currently supports the Renewable Energy Workforce Development and Equity program:
The Renewable Energy Workforce Development and Equity program supports formal job training through a hands-on program. GRID hosts a variety of job training programs that vary in length and curriculum including a 200-hour Installation Basics Training cohort-based program, paid internships, and year-long fellowships. Training programs include wrap-around services and case management support, including resume and interview preparation, mentorship opportunities, skill showcases, stipends for childcare and transportation.
GRID’s job training opportunities are accessible and inclusive of groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the renewable energy workforce, including women, people of color, and those impacted by the criminal justice system.
