The mission
YouthBuild champions opportunity youth as they realize their goals and aspirations, transform into the leaders of today and tomorrow, and provide valuable community service on a global scale – all while paying it forward to the next generation. The organization’s mission: With love and respect, YouthBuild partners with opportunity youth to build the skillsets and mindsets that lead to lifelong learning, livelihood, and leadership.
YouthBuild USA—the support center for the global YouthBuild movement—provides technical assistance and training to 280+ local YouthBuild programs, including 220+ located in U.S communities, that engage more than 12,000 opportunity youth each year. YouthBuild USA is committed to helping programs foster an inclusive community in which all young people can experience belonging and overcome any barriers to success. All YouthBuild programs provide support services to their participants, which can include mentoring; case management; and assistance with food, housing, and childcare.
The program
The RBC Foundation USA currently supports YouthBuild’s Solar Jobs Pathway Program:
The Solar Jobs Pathway Program In partnership with industry leaders, employers, and youth-serving programs, YouthBuild USA is developing and launching a national solar pathway that provides job training, industry-recognized credentials, education, and positive youth development programming to prepare opportunity youth for family-sustaining careers in the solar industry.
The Solar Jobs Pathway Program will provide opportunity youth with the training, education, and support they need to succeed in the green economy while also ensuring our future workforce has the skills and credentials to meet the demands of the rapidly-growing solar industry.
