Keen about a career in banking or finance? If so, we offer two scholarships – the RBC Capital Markets Scholarship for Women and the Diversity Scholarship – to help support your studies. Get full details below.

  • Two different scholarships are available
  • There are up to four available scholarships for both the Scholarship for Women and the Diversity Scholarship, each in the amount of C$5,000
  • Scholarship recipients will also receive an offer of paid employment for a 2019 Summer Analyst position at RBC Capital Markets in Toronto
  • Scholarship recipients will be paired with a senior professional from RBC Capital Markets, who will serve as a mentor
  • Female students in full-time undergraduate studies graduating in December 2019 or Spring 2020, enrolled in a business, engineering or economics program at a university in Canada
  • Available to work full-time May-August 2019
  • Minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA/80%
  • Diverse extra-curricular participation and community involvement
  • Canadian Citizens, permanent residents of Canada, or individuals who are legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer until, and including, September 2019
  • Anyone who identifies as a visible minority, female, Aboriginal or Indigenous background, LGBT+, Veterans, and/or persons with disabilities
  • Students in full-time undergraduate studies graduating in December 2019 or Spring 2020, who are enrolled in a business, engineering or economics program at a university in Canada
  • Available to work full-time May-August 2019
  • Minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA/80%
  • Diverse extra-curricular participation and community involvement
  • Canadian Citizens, permanent residents of Canada, or individuals who are legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer until, and including, September 2019

Candidates must submit the following:

  • A 300 word personal essay in support of their candidacy, explaining their interest in a career in banking and finance
  • A current, one-page resume
  • Unofficial transcripts of their academic records

We appreciate all student interest and submissions for our scholarships. The review of applications and selection of candidates is a highly competitive process.

Following the deadline, applications will be reviewed by a team of business leaders at RBC Capital Markets. Any shortlisted applicants will then be invited to participate in a telephone or in-person interview at our Toronto office in Summer 2018. (Any pre-approved travel costs will be covered by RBC Capital Markets).

The recipients of both Scholarships will be announced by September 2018. All Scholarship recipients will join the RBC Capital Markets Investment Banking or Global Markets Summer Class of 2019.

RBC Pathways: Diversity Scholarship Program

At RBC Capital Markets, we believe in fostering a diverse workplace and promoting inclusion to fuel innovation and economic prosperity. The RBC Pathways: Diversity Scholarship Program aims to recognize and reward outstanding undergraduate students who are from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds and are interested in pursuing a full-time career in banking, corporate finance, municipal finance, origination, sales & trading, research or technology through consecutive summer internship experiences and development opportunities.

  • $15,000 scholarship awarded over two years; $5,000 at the start of your first, sophomore summer internship; $10,000 at the start of your second, junior summer internship
  • Orientation to RBC Capital Markets and divisional training beginning Day One, before joining your team
  • An assigned mentor to help you navigate the organization and guide your career
  • Access to senior leaders to provide insight, support and guidance throughout the summer
  • An invaluable peer network of driven, ambitious like-minded young professionals
  • Numerous networking, social and firm-wide events to expose you to the many areas within RBC Capital Markets and to provide a comprehensive understanding of our organization as well as the finance industry
  • Potential to gain exposure to different divisions year over year, for those who are interested in exploring other opportunities
  • You are a full-time undergraduate student who identifies as someone from a traditionally underrepresented background (Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, and/or Native American descent)
  • You are interested in pursuing a full-time career in banking, corporate finance, municipal finance, origination, sales & trading, research or technology
  • You are able to join us the summer after your Sophomore year
  • You are able to return the summer after your Junior year, providing performance feedback from Sophomore year summer is strong
  • Your cumulative GPA is a minimum of 3.4

Following the deadline, applications will be reviewed by a team of business leaders at RBC Capital Markets. Applicants will then be invited to participate in an interview at our New York City or Jersey City offices. (Travel costs will be covered by RBC Capital Markets).
