RBC Capital Markets Canada Pathways Diversity Scholarship Program

RBC Capital Markets is committed to fostering workplace diversity. RBC Pathways aims to recognize and reward outstanding undergraduate students studying full-time at a Canadian university or college who identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or a Person of Colour, and who are passionate about pursuing a full-time career in Investment Banking or Global Markets through a dual scholarship-internship opportunity.

RBC Pathways Scholarship recipients earn an offer to join the RBC Capital Markets Summer Analyst Program in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, or Vancouver (in Business & Client Services, Global Markets, or Investment Banking) and a $10,000 scholarship at the start of their internship

  • An offer of paid employment for a 2022 Summer Analyst internship with RBC Capital Markets in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, or Vancouver in either Business & Client Services, Global Markets, or Investment Banking
  • CAD $10,000 scholarship at the start of your internship
  • Executive sponsorship – insight, support, and guidance from a trusted senior leader – as well as summer mentors to help you navigate the organization and guide your career
  • Ongoing training, networking, and social opportunities to expose you to the many areas within RBC Capital Markets and to provide a comprehensive understanding of our organization as well as the finance industry
  • An invaluable peer network of driven, ambitious like-minded young professionals

Eligibility

Please read the following eligibility requirements and application instructions carefully before submitting; incomplete applications will not be accepted.

  • You are an undergraduate student who is and will be enrolled full-time at a Canadian college or university
  • You have a strong academic record, and a graduation date between December 2022 and Spring 2023
  • You identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Colour
  • You have varied extra-curricular participation and a genuine passion for a career in finance upon graduation
  • You are able to join a full-time summer internship running May to August 2022, after which point you would continue your full-time undergraduate studies in September 2022
  • You are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or are legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer until, and including, September 2022

Application Requirements

To submit a complete application, please prepare the following three items as one PDF file and submit under the “resume” section of the online application system:

  • Your updated, one page resume including your cumulative GPA
  • Your one page cover letter explaining your demonstrated interest in a career in Investment Banking or Global Markets at RBC
  • Your official or unofficial transcripts of your academic records form your first two years of undergraduate study, including your Winter 2021 grades. If it is not possible to receive an official transcript by the deadline, please include an unofficial transcript which includes grads for this semester.

Timeline & Selection Process

We appreciate all student interest and application submissions for our scholarships. The applicant review and selection processes are highly competitive.

  • Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis by a team of business leaders at RBC Capital Markets
  • Application deadline: May 17, 2021, 11:59pm ET
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a brief webinar and complete a short assessment; select applicants will advance to first round interviews; select first round candidates will advance to final round interviews*
  • Successful candidates will join the 2022 Summer Analyst Program in Investment Banking or Global Markets; the $10,000 scholarship will be paid to each RBC Pathways Scholar at the start of their summer internship

*In 2021, we anticipate all interviews will be virtual; however, should we host in-person interviews, any pre-approved travel costs will be covered by RBC Capital Markets

Following the deadline, applications will be reviewed by a team of business leaders at RBC Capital Markets. Any shortlisted applicants will then be invited to participate in a Virtual interview in Summer 2021.

The recipients of both Scholarships will be announced by September 2021. All Scholarship recipients will join the RBC Capital Markets Investment Banking or Global Markets Summer Class of 2022.

RBC Capital Markets U.S. Pathways Diversity Scholarship Program

RBC Capital Markets is committed to fostering workplace diversity. RBC Pathways aims to recognize and reward outstanding undergraduate students who are from traditionally underrepresented ethnic backgrounds (i.e. students of Black, African American, Hispanic, Latinx, and/or Native American descent), and who are passionate about pursuing a full-time career in finance through consecutive summer internship experiences, executive sponsorship and development opportunities.

RBC Pathways offers these individuals the opportunity to learn about the financial industry from industry experts and specifically, what it’s like to work at RBC Capital Markets.

Talented college sophomores and juniors are provided with first-hand experience and the opportunity to participate in our premier ten-week paid summer internship program at our offices in: New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Houston, TX; and Jersey City, NJ. Additionally, students are eligible to receive a $5,000 scholarship at the start of their first internship, and a $10,000 scholarship at the start of their second internship.

  • An offer of paid employment Summer 2022 and a return offer of employment for Summer 2023 providing performance feedback from Sophomore year summer is strong
  • USD $5,000 scholarship at the start of your first internship; $10,000 scholarship at the start of your second internship
  • Potential to gain exposure to different divisions year over year, for those who are interested in exploring other opportunities
  • Executive sponsorship – insight, support, and guidance from a trusted senior leader – as well as summer mentors to help you navigate the organization and guide your career
  • Ongoing training, networking, and social opportunities to expose you to the many areas within RBC Capital Markets and to provide a comprehensive understanding of our organization as well as the finance industry
  • An invaluable peer network of driven, ambitious like-minded young professionals

Eligibility

  • You are an undergraduate student who is and will be enrolled full-time at a U.S. college or university
  • You have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and will graduate in December 2023 or Spring 2024
  • You identify as Black, African American, Hispanic, Latinx, and/or Native American
  • You have varied extra-curricular participation and are passionate about pursuing a full-time career in Capital Markets (i.e. investment banking, corporate banking, municipal finance, origination, sales & trading, research or technology)
  • You are able to join us as a Summer Analyst the summer after your Sophomore year (June – August)
  • You are able to return the summer after your Junior year, providing performance feedback from Sophomore year summer is strong
