The Institutional Client Management (ICM) team is responsible for managing and growing our business relationships with the world’s largest banks. Harnessing the capabilities of RBC’s global platform, ICM creates and delivers investment solutions that help clients achieve their business objectives. The team is global with relationship managers based in Toronto, New York, London, Hong Kong and Sydney.

Renee DeGagne

Managing Director, Global

Renée is a Managing Director, Head of Institutional Client Management with a focus on meeting the needs of institutional clients – banks, asset managers, hedge funds and specialized non-bank financial entities. In addition, Renée is a member of the RBC Investor & Treasury Services Operating Committee with responsibility for collectively formulating, setting and implementing I&TS' strategy with her fellow ITSOC members.

Renée has held a wide array of management positions with RBC for the past 28 years. Prior to her current role, Renée worked in RBC’s Financial Management group in the Head Office in Toronto covering a variety of businesses, including Financial Institutions, Corporate Banking, and Global Custody. She spent several years working in the marketing and strategy group within Corporate Banking prior to moving to the New York office in 1999 where she held various roles in Asset Securitization, Global Credit and Loan Portfolio Management. In 2008, she started the Global Trading Client Management team within RBC Capital Markets that brought together the credit management of all clients with whom our relationship is centred on trading.

Renée received an MBA from Dalhousie University with a concentration in Finance in 1988. She received a BA from the University of Western Ontario with a major in economics in 1985.

Philip Ball

Philip is Managing Director and Head of Institutional Client Management, Europe with responsibility for a managing our teams covering both Bank and Non-Bank Financial Institutions in Europe.

Philip joined RBC in 1997 and has held increasingly senior roles managing our corporate and institutional clients. Prior to his current role, Philip focused on the Non-Bank Financial Institutions in Europe with a focus on our insurance clients. Philip worked in Toronto between 2003 and 2006 providing senior relationship management to our broker dealer clients both across Canada and internationally and before that he was a relationship manager in London for our European bank clients.

Prior to joining RBC, Philip spent 4 years with NatWest Bank on its graduate management training programme. Philip graduated with a BA (Hons) in Economics from Exeter University and obtained the UK's Chartered Institute of Bankers qualification.

Nicole Kidd

Nicole is Managing Director, Corporate Banking and Head of Institutional Client Management for Asia-Pacific, where she has responsibility for covering a team focused on Australian and Asian financial institutions, together with managing a portfolio of Australian corporate clients. Nicole aims to ensure that these clients are met with the highest possible coverage across RBC’s comprehensive suite of products and services.

Nicole joined RBC’s London Branch in July 2007 in the Syndications Team where she held the roles of Vice President, and then Director responsible for syndicating European Infrastructure, Oil & Gas and Leveraged Finance transactions. Nicole returned to Australia with RBC in February 2011 to start our Corporate Banking activities in Australia and subsequently added Institutional Client Management to her repertoire in 2015.

Prior to joining RBC, Nicole was a Portfolio Manager in the Structured & High Yield Debt Fund at AMP Capital Investors, concentrating on Subordinated Infrastructure and Leveraged lending in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the USA. Nicole commenced her career at National Australia Bank where she held a variety of roles during her nearly ten years including Property, Project and Infrastructure Finance, and Leveraged Finance.

Nicole has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Newcastle, Australia and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New England, Australia. She is also admitted as a Legal Practitioner in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia.
