Over the course of this 10-week program, you’ll gain tangible, hands-on experience and insight into our business operations. Our Global Investment Banking division looks for industrious , curious and talented undergraduates for our internship programme in London. The internship offers exposure to high profile mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions across a range of industries. It will also give you exposure to senior RBC professionals and clients.

Summer Interns will gain hands-on experience within a division of the bank and career-building mentorship. Every year we recruit successful applicants into our London office that convert to our full-time Analyst programme the following year. There are opportunities in many areas to suit the interests of driven and focused students.

Fluency in a second European language is not required, but would be an advantage.

Corporate Banking provides leading financial service capabilities to our global corporate and institutional clients. Summer Analyst Program Overview

When you join our Summer Analyst program you will enter a rotational program to get hands on experience across various industry teams within Corporate Banking as well as get exposure to Asset Based Lending and Institutional Client Management teams.

Summer Analysts will attend a number of training and networking events and will get exposure to our senior leaders to discuss career opportunities.

At the end of the Summer Analyst program our Interns will get a chance to interview for open Full-Time Analyst roles across Corporate Banking and Global Credit teams.

Full-time Analyst Program Overview

Full-time Analysts will be placed in one of the Corporate Banking industry teams or will join teams within Global Credit such as Institutional Client Management and Asset Based Lending.

At the beginning of the program all analysts will go through a formal training program before joining their teams. Each incoming analyst will also have a mentor assigned to them to help better integrate to our organization.

Analysts will get hands on experience with credit transaction approval process and will interact with various teams such as Credit Risk Management, Global Loan Administration, Loan Portfolio Management and other groups across RBC.

Municipal Finance

Municipal Finance Summer Analyst Program Overview

The Municipal Finance Summer Analyst provides analytical, research and transactional support to investment bankers and associates in all departmental work activities relating to the structuring and underwriting and issuance of negotiated bonds, and/or related financial advisory services.

The program provides a hands-on experience of public finance investment banking in which Summer Analysts will be directly involved in supporting book-run financings, preparing analysis for competitive proposal requests, as well as client service related analysis. Summer Analysts are considered generalists which will enable them to be staffed with multiple industry groups within the department to provide the broadest exposure possible. Summer Analysts can expect to develop their foundations in:

  • Preparing credit, operating and capital structure models and related financial analyses for potential and actual capital markets transactions
  • Organizing and analyzing information necessary to prepare proposals, client presentations, offering statements and marketing materials
  • Understanding and developing the ability to communicate financing alternatives in originating, structuring and marketing an issue and our firm wide capabilities
  • Economic, political and industry-specific forces affecting the issuance of municipal securities

Finance

The Finance Department's core function is to manage RBC's risk utilizing financial controls. We do so by working closely with each of our business areas to manage our relationships with regulatory bodies, monitor and report on financial statements utilizing accounting principles and provide oversight and analysis of the firm's risk exposure.

What is it?

Our Finance Department provides the following services across the businesses:

  • Product Control – the custodians of the trading P&L and Balance Sheet with responsibility for ensuring the integrity of the company's trading related books and records
  • Financial Control – the strategic and day-to-day management of the firm's core capital and financing matters
  • Valuation – a key control where we use multiple analysis tools to ensure accurate values of securities and derivatives **

Risk Management

RBC's Risk Management Function is responsible for the oversight of Market, Trading Credit and Liquidity Risk Management.

The group uses a variety of measurement metrics and limits. Key responsibilities of Risk Management are:

  • Providing oversight of Market, Trading Credit and Liquidity Risk exposures
  • Transaction analysis and support
  • Quantifying and reporting the region's Market, Trading Credit and Liquidity Risk exposures using a wide variety of metrics and measurement tools such as Value-at-Risk, liquidity survival horizons, stress testing and "Greek" measures.
  • Establishing limits on Market, Trading Credit and Liquidity Risk exposures within the firm's risk appetite
  • Maintaining and implementing the necessary policies and procedures, including appropriate governance
  • Ensuring valuation models are used appropriately and in accordance with policy and approvals from our model vetting team
