Our Team

Michael Carter is a 25 year plus Wall Street veteran and member of the RBC Corporate Innovation Council. Prior to joining RBC, he was a Managing Director at Barclays Capital and Lehman Brothers. Before investment banking, Michael worked for Hughes Aircraft and served as Political Deputy for Councilwoman Rita Walters, 9th District in Los Angeles.

Michael is active member of several boards including Computer Services Inc. (CSVI) a publicly-traded company, member of the LPAC for Plexo Capital, New York City Foundation for Computer Science Education, serves as a honorary board of director of Spelman College, a member of the Arts & Sciences Advisory Board for Washington University in St. Louis, the Wake Forest University Parents Council, the National Academy Foundation STEM Advisory Committee and the Executive Leadership Council.

He has received numerous industry awards including: Institutional Investor Magazine’s “Rainmaker of the Year” twice, the M&A Atlas Award for “Technology Services Deal of the Year”, Institutional Investor Magazine’s “Deal of the Year" and been named “Change Agent in Finance Leadership.

Michael is a Los Angeles Coro Fellows Scholar and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Washington University in St. Louis.

Alex Graham joined RBC Capital Markets in 2012 as Head of TMT investment banking in Canada. Alex has been an investment banker for more than thirty years and spent the first twenty years between New York and London before coming home to Canada in 2006.

Alex began his investment banking career in New York with Salomon Brothers Inc. (now Citigroup) in 1986. Relocating to London in 1991, he was made head of European Equity Capital Markets (ECM) for Salomon Brothers in 1994. Subsequently Mr. Graham headed ECM for BT Alex. Brown International, and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette International; both in London.  From 2002 until 2006, Mr. Graham headed an ECM business for Citigroup in New York. From 2006 to 2012, he headed the diversified coverage effort for Morgan Stanley in Canada. Prior to investment banking Alex was a special Assistant (1984 - 1986) to Canada’s 17th Prime Minister, The Rt. Hon. John N. Turner.

A native of Ottawa, Alex graduated from the Richard Ivey School of Business (University of Western Ontario) in 1989, MBA – with distinction and from Trinity College (University of Toronto) in 1984 (BA).

Alex serves on a variety of volunteer Boards of Directors, including: The National Arts Centre Foundation. He previously served on the City of Toronto Sinking Fund an Investment Advisory Committee overseeing $4.3 billion of investments, and the boards of Canada’s History Society, The Writers’ Trust of Canada and the Liberal Party of Canada.
