Lori Calvasina
Managing Director & Head of U.S. Equity Strategy, RBC Capital Markets
Lori Calvasina joined RBC Capital Markets as Head of U.S. Equity Strategy in 2017 as a Managing Director. Having spent nearly two decades as an equity strategist at major investment banks, Lori is an expert on the US stock market, and regularly represents RBC in the financial media on Bloomberg and CNBC. Prior to joining RBC, Lori was a senior equity strategist at Credit Suisse from 2010 to 2017, covering Small/Mid Cap Strategy from 2010-2014 and both Small/Mid Cap and US Equity Strategy from 2015-2017. She spent the first ten years of her career at Citi in a variety of roles including lead Small/Mid Cap Strategist from 2007-2010. In both 2008 and 2009 Lori was ranked #2 in the Small Companies category in the Institutional Investor All America Research team poll. Lori is a graduate of the University of Virginia and its selective Government & Foreign Affairs’ Honors Program. In 2019, she was named to Crains New York’s list of Notable Women in Finance.
Tom is Managing Director and Chief U.S. Economist at RBC Capital Markets. He focuses on piecing together the US backdrop as part of the global economic effort. This entails crafting a US economic framework based on analysis of the hi-frequency data while taking into account the stance of monetary and fiscal policy. Tom travels globally to meet with RBC clients to share his insights on the US economy and markets. Prior to joining RBC he worked as an economist at Merrill Lynch and a member of the team responsible for economic forecasting and Fed watching. He began his career at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York working on the Open Market Desk. In addition, he was responsible for disseminating pertinent economic and market analysis to policy makers in an effort to provide them with critical information used in the policy making process. He appears regularly on CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg and is quoted widely in the global press. Tom holds a Masters degree from Columbia University.
Sara Mahaffy is a Director & ESG Strategist for RBC. Prior to joining RBC in 2017, she was a member of the Credit Suisse US Equity Strategy team from 2015-2017 and Credit Suisse Small/Mid Cap U.S. Equity Strategy team from 2010-2014. In 2021 and 2022 Sara ranked #3 in the ESG category in the Institutional Investor All America Research team poll. In 2022 she was also named to the Business Insider’s 2022 List Of Rising Stars Of Equity Research. Sara is a CFA charterholder. Sara graduated from McGill University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Honors in Investment Management.
