The report is based on an analysis of data from nearly 1 million conversations with young people, ages 17 and under, who reached out to Crisis Text Line for support between 2019 and 2021.

The report highlights the ways in which the pandemic has affected young people's mental health, including depression, increased anxiety, stress and feelings of loneliness. It also identifies factors and coping strategies that promote resilience and better mental health care, such as listening to music, having supportive relationships and engaging in activities that promote self-care and stress management such as painting, exercising and playing video games.

The report also offers important recommendations for addressing the mental health needs of young people, including making accessible tools and resources to build resilience.
