Renée is a Managing Director, Head of Institutional Client Management with a focus on meeting the needs of institutional clients – banks, asset managers, hedge funds and specialized non-bank financial entities. In addition, Renée is a member of the RBC Investor & Treasury Services Operating Committee with responsibility for collectively formulating, setting and implementing I&TS' strategy with her fellow ITSOC members.

Renée has held a wide array of management positions with RBC for the past 28 years. Prior to her current role, Renée worked in RBC’s Financial Management group in the Head Office in Toronto covering a variety of businesses, including Financial Institutions, Corporate Banking, and Global Custody. She spent several years working in the marketing and strategy group within Corporate Banking prior to moving to the New York office in 1999 where she held various roles in Asset Securitization, Global Credit and Loan Portfolio Management. In 2008, she started the Global Trading Client Management team within RBC Capital Markets that brought together the credit management of all clients with whom our relationship is centred on trading.

Renée received an MBA from Dalhousie University with a concentration in Finance in 1988. She received a BA from the University of Western Ontario with a major in economics in 1985.

Joseph is the Head of Institutional Client Management (ICM) - Americas & Japan. ICM offers capital markets and advisory products and services, including debt and equity origination and distribution, investment research and economic insights, interest rate, commodity and equity risk management, structured lending facilities, securitization, prime brokerage, clearing and fund services and municipal finance. Joseph is based in New York.

Joseph joined RBC in 2010 as Head of US Global Financial Institutions (GFI) and since 2012, has been head of ICM Americas & Japan. Before joining RBC, Joseph spent 7 years at HSBC where his final position was as Head of Client Management for US Banks & Securities. Prior to HSBC, Joseph began his career at Citicorp as a Management Associate, and worked in various capacities, spending the last six years in the Global Relationship Bank’s Financial Institutions Group.

Joseph earned his BA in Economics & History from New York University.

Philip is Managing Director and Head of Institutional Client Management, Europe with responsibility for a managing our teams covering both Bank and Non-Bank Financial Institutions in Europe.

Philip joined RBC in 1997 and has held increasingly senior roles managing our corporate and institutional clients. Prior to his current role, Philip focused on the Non-Bank Financial Institutions in Europe with a focus on our insurance clients. Philip worked in Toronto between 2003 and 2006 providing senior relationship management to our broker dealer clients both across Canada and internationally and before that he was a relationship manager in London for our European bank clients.

Prior to joining RBC, Philip spent 4 years with NatWest Bank on its graduate management training programme. Philip graduated with a BA (Hons) in Economics from Exeter University and obtained the UK's Chartered Institute of Bankers qualification.

Nicole is Managing Director, Corporate Banking and Head of Institutional Client Management for Asia-Pacific, where she has responsibility for covering a team focused on Australian and Asian financial institutions, together with managing a portfolio of Australian corporate clients. Nicole aims to ensure that these clients are met with the highest possible coverage across RBC’s comprehensive suite of products and services.

Nicole joined RBC’s London Branch in July 2007 in the Syndications Team where she held the roles of Vice President, and then Director responsible for syndicating European Infrastructure, Oil & Gas and Leveraged Finance transactions. Nicole returned to Australia with RBC in February 2011 to start our Corporate Banking activities in Australia and subsequently added Institutional Client Management to her repertoire in 2015.

Prior to joining RBC, Nicole was a Portfolio Manager in the Structured & High Yield Debt Fund at AMP Capital Investors, concentrating on Subordinated Infrastructure and Leveraged lending in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the USA. Nicole commenced her career at National Australia Bank where she held a variety of roles during her nearly ten years including Property, Project and Infrastructure Finance, and Leveraged Finance.

Nicole has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Newcastle, Australia and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New England, Australia. She is also admitted as a Legal Practitioner in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia.

In August 1994, David formed the Structured Finance Group in New York and managed it for three years. He also had account coverage responsibilities while in the Chicago office from 1987 to 1994.

Over his career of covering large corporates across multiple industries, various geographies and ratings, and including his time leading the Firm’s Syndicated Finance team, David has led or been involved in over 750 transactions.

Rod is Head of the RBC Capital Markets Montreal Corporate Banking Team covering existing and emerging capital market accounts. He has over 35 years of experience as a Corporate Lender in Canada with RBC, during which time he has covered the entire spectrum of corporate accounts from small start-ups to major Canadian and international multinationals, and from telecom to forest products. Rod has also been involved with several major workout and restructurings of distressed accounts.

Prior to joining RBC, Rod spent a number of years in industry including several years in Internal Audit at RCA, CIL and TD Bank’s International division.

Baljit is Head of RBC Capital Markets' Corporate Banking business in British Columbia and is responsible for the firm’s overall Paper & Forest Products lending business. Baljit and his team cover a diverse portfolio of clients in the retail, industrial, utilities, services and public sectors. Within Paper & Forest Products, he has clients across North America in the building materials, timber, pulp and paper packaging sectors.

Ralph Sehgal is Managing Director and Deputy Head of Corporate Banking, a global business with offices across Canada, the US, Europe and Australia. He leads a team of professionals in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver that provide client coverage across a broad range of industries and also sits on a number of internal committees, including the Corporate Banking/Global Credit Operating Committee.

Prior to joining RBC Capital Markets in 2009, Ralph spent 13 years at CIBC World Markets in a number of roles, the most recent of which was Managing Director and Team Leader covering large corporate clients. Ralph also spent a number of years living and working abroad in Finland, Switzerland and England for Credit Suisse.

Ralph is a member of the United Way Toronto's MIG Cabinet. He is a graduate of the University of Guelph holding a Combined Honors degree in Management and Economics, as well as Queen’s University where he earned a Master of Business Administration degree. Mike joined RBC Capital Markets in August 2000 and has Corporate Banking relationship responsibility for the whole of the bank’s Mining, Energy & Utility clients in Europe. Specifically, he has recently been closely involved with the acquisition financing of various high profile utilities in the UK as well as structured financings for our multinational energy, mining and infrastructure clients.

As well as being a senior member of the Corporate Banking team in Europe, Mike sits on various industry operating committees as well as the bank’s European Lending Risk Management Committee.

Mike started his career with NatWest in 1977 specializing in all forms of trade and project finance specifically in the energy sector. In 1997/98 he was responsible for arranging oil export finance whilst based in Moscow before returning to the UK after the Royal Bank of Scotland takeover of NatWest. In the first half of 2000, Mike was appointed Head of UK Natural Resources before moving to RBC Capital Markets.

Patrick Shields

As Group Head, Patrick is responsible for industry teams that deliver relationship coverage and credit related products to a wide array of the firm's investment and non-investment grade clients including automotive, transportation, industrials, aerospace and defense, municipal finance, infrastructure, power and utilities, and financial services companies. He also provides senior level corporate banking coverage to automotive clients. He has been actively involved in this sector since 1995.

Patrick is a member of the Capital Markets USA Regional Operating Committee, NY Branch Governance Committee, and the Corporate Banking Global Operating Committee. Since joining RBC Financial Group in 1990, he has held various account management positions, working in Corporate and Investment Banking offices in Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Chicago and New York. Jake is a Managing Director in the US Municipal Finance Group based in New York. Jake leads a team of professionals structuring and executing Letters of Credit, Standby Purchase Agreements, Tender Option Bond transactions, Bridge Loans, and credit linked derivative products including Total Return Swaps to support RBC’s US municipal finance clients. Jake was previously a Director in RBC’s Real Estate Group focusing on all real estate asset classes, including healthcare, and was the lead corporate banking contact for the lodging and hospitality sectors.

Prior to joining RBC, Jake was a Vice President with HSH Nordbank AG and worked on large structured real estate finance transactions, primarily as agent and arranger. Earlier in his career, Jake worked in the Lodging Group at Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank on single-asset and multiple-asset financings as well as corporate credit facilities including several cross-border transactions.

Jake holds an MBA from NYU’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a BS in Hotel Administration from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration.
